Nancy M. LaCasse
As a Director of Legislative Services for SSC, Nancy M. LaCasse serves as
the liaison between the State Capitol and school districts and county offices
of education throughout California on legislative issues and trends affecting
K-12 education. She provides comprehensive legislative advocacy services
on behalf of SSC legislative clients and regularly consults with school agencies
on state budget and legislative issues.
Nancy
is responsible for analyzing legislation that has a potential
financial impact or significant policy impact on educational agencies. She
also monitors and reports on the activities and actions of the State Legislature,
as well as a wide range of school finance issues. She is a regular contributor
to SSC's biweekly Fiscal Report and other SSC publications. She is
the author of the book, Impacting the Legislative Process: A Practical
Guide for Public Education Representatives, aimed at assisting school
agencies understand and participate in the legislative process. In
addition, she wrote The Opportunity and Challenge of 1993--Establishment
of Charter Schools, and is a contributor and presenter at SSC's annual
School Finance Conferences.
With SSC since 1982, Nancy previously served as SSC's Legislative
Coordinator where she was responsible for directing activities of the firm's
legislative department and providing backup assistance to SSC's Legislative
Directors.
A native Californian, Nancy was educated in K-14 public schools and
attended California State University, Sacramento, and the University of
California, Davis. She is married and the mother of three sons enrolled in
public schools. She is an active local School Site Council member, an associate
member of the California Association of School Business Officials, a member
of the California Elected Women's Association for Education and Research,
and a member of various other educational and philanthropic organizations. |
