By the Way. . .

Governor Davis Makes Appointments to the Board of Governors. With the recent appointments of two new members to the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, Governor Davis will have appointed the majority of the members of the Board in less than two years of his Administration. Only two members of the Board remain from the prior Wilson administration, and their terms are up in January 2001.

The new appointments to the Board are Robert L. Moore and Matthew D. Roy; reappointed was Patricia G. Siever.

Mr. Moore, of Los Angeles, is president of BJRM Investments. Mr. Moore served part-time as a policy and legal advisor for the Faculty Association of the California Community Colleges (FACCC). From 1996 to 1998, he had his own general law practice handling matters concerning education, business, and labor law. He was chairman of the California Employment Training Panel from 1976 to 1982 and was an education and legislative advisor for the Governor's Office when Governor Davis was chief of staff to former Governor Jerry Brown.

Mr. Roy, of Northridge, graduated from the College of the Canyons with an associate of arts degree in political science. He serves as the Region 6 Policy Board Representative for the California Student Association of Community Colleges. He replaces the student representative on the Board, David Lawrence, who resigned.

Ms. Siever, of Culver City, is a professor of History at Los Angeles Pierce College. Ms. Siever is currently the faculty member on the Board, and was reappointed to that position. Former Governor Pete Wilson first appointed her to the Board in 1997.
