By the Way . . .

Fourth Quarter Lottery Apportionment Higher than Anticipated. The 1999-00 fourth quarter lottery apportionments are higher than originally anticipated. The final per-FTES amount for the fourth quarter is approximately $29.61 per FTES. However, this dollar amount is split $22.12 per FTES in unrestricted funds and $7.49 per FTES in restricted funds.

At the close of the fiscal year, school agencies were anticipating a total of $123 per FTES with $117 per FTES going to the unrestricted side of the budget and $6 per FTES in restricted funds as required by Proposition 20. The total 1999-00 unrestricted amount is $117.88 and the restricted is $7.49 per FTES for a grand total of $125.37, an increase of $2.37 per FTES.

Both the unrestricted and restricted amounts are higher than originally anticipated. If your school agency accrued the fourth quarter lottery apportionment for a total dollar amount of $117 per FTES in unrestricted and $6 per FTES in restricted, the differences between the accrual and the actual apportionment are considered current year revenues for the 2000-01 fiscal year.
