Part-Time Faculty Picket Chancellor's Office. About 40 part-time community college teachers marched in front of the state Chancellor's Office last week to urge the state to make their pay more equal to full-time faculty. The demonstration was organized by the California Federation of Teachers (CFT) and the sign-carrying demonstrators chanted, "all we want for Christmas is a fair day's pay." One sign read, "What are we waiting for? Year 3000?"

The union wants the community college system to support a $50 million augmentation to Governor Davis' proposed State Budget for 2000-01, to be used to increase pay for part-time college instructors.
