By the Way. . .
The Best Friends of "Son of Proposition 26." CalPEEK, a political weekly that circulates in the Capitol community, reports that the "Son of Proposition 26" initiative regarding the 55% vote for local bonded indebtedness threshold has some wonderful friends. As has been known for weeks, the fast-track fundraising drive to collect signatures was funded by seven billionaires who were very generous to the new initiative: John Walton, Don and Doris Fisher, Eli Broad, Donald Bren, John Doerr, and Henry Samueli.
At the other end of the continuum, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is claiming foul since their average contribution was $23.
It's nice to have billionaires on our side.
