By The Way. . .

Another Master Plan Review. As a result of the passage of SCR 29 (Alpert, D-San Diego), a joint legislative committee is to be formed that will develop a "Master Plan for Education," focusing on K-12 schools through the University. Last week, the Senate Rules Committee appointed Senators Alpert (Chair), Alarcon (D-Los Angeles), Karnette (D-Long Beach), McPherson (R-Santa Cruz), Murray (D-Los Angeles), O'Connell (D-San Luis Opisbo), Poochigian (R-Fresno), Rainey (R-Walnut Creek), and Vasconcellos (D-San Jose). The Assembly has not yet made its appointments to the committee. The committee is expected to hold its first meeting late August to mid-September. Senator Alpert has scheduled a town hall meeting in San Diego on July 27 to discuss the master plan.
