Community College Student Transfers to UC Improve.  According to the Chancellor's Office, the overall number of community college students transferring to the University of California (UC) appears to have increased by at least 6.4% from Fall 1998 to Fall 1999. Total admits of 11,001 for Fall 1999 have thus far been inventoried, compared with last year's final number of 10,330. The Chancellor's Office reports that the number of 11,001 transfers is the highest in the system's history, and should increase slightly. In addition, the number of underrepresented students transferring to UC for Fall 1999 (1,898) exceeds last year's figure by 8.9%.

Chancellor Tom Nussbaum attributes these increases to the transfer agreement adopted by the UC system and Board of Governor's last year and the Partnership for Excellence Program.
