Governor Appoints New Vice Chancellor. Marlene L. Garcia has been appointed Vice Chancellor of Governmental Relations for the System Office of the California Community Colleges. Ms. Garcia, a former Higher Education Policy Consultant for the Senate Office of Research, has extensive legislative experience having worked on postsecondary education policy issues for close to 20 years. She has worked for the Senate Education Committee, California State University, and the California State Assembly. She possesses a wide network of contacts within the Legislature, Administration, four segments of higher education, and foundation communities. 

Ms. Garcia will begin her duties at the Chancellor’s Office in May. She will be located in the Chancellor’s Office, 1102 Q. Street, 4^th Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814.
