What Are the Most Recent Lottery Revenue Numbers?
Q. Can you clarify for me the most recent Lottery revenue numbers? I have heard different estimates from different sources. Specifically, can you confirm the amount for the fourth quarter?
A. For the fifth year in a row, the Lottery Commission is projecting a slight increase in revenue for education to $1.27 billion in 2006-07. The updated revenues yield an estimated total of $153.15 per FTES/ADA in 2006-07—$125.25 per FTES/ADA unrestricted and $27.90 per FTES/ADA restricted for instructional materials. This is a total increase of $1.40 per FTES/ADA over revised 2005-06 estimates of $151.75 per FTES/ADA.
The fourth quarter Lottery revenue projections are $17.41 per FTES/ADA for the unrestricted Lottery apportionment and $18.38 per FTES/ADA for the Proposition 20 apportionment. The Lottery Commission’s revenue projections for education increased from previous projections. The Internet revenue doubled, which is an $8 million increase. Plus the expected education revenues increased by $47 million. We based our projections on the information that we received from the Lottery Commission. Again, all of these figures are projections.
