The Ins and Outs of Parcel Taxes
We often receive questions regarding parcel taxes and how they may be used by school districts to enhance education. Parcel taxes are difficult to pass, but if the effort is successful, they can provide substantial sums to school districts.
Recently we came across an excellent explanation of the process and we want to share it with you. The Bulletin (see Attachment A), prepared by John Hartenstein, is shared with you with permission of the law firm of Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. John Hartenstein is a partner and also chair of the School Finance and General Obligation Bonds Group for Orrick. For further information, you may reach him at the address in the Bulletin.
