Robert Dynes to Step Down as UC President.
University of California President Robert C. Dynes announced that he will resign as President of the ten-campus system by June 2008. Dynes, who took the position in 2003, will end his tenure after five years.

“I depart knowing that the University, at its core, remains strong. And that is because of the dedication, hard work and vision of its faculty, staff and students. They represent the foundation on which this great University has been built, and for that I express my heartfelt thanks to our entire community,” said Dynes in a university statement.

After taking office as the University of California’s 18th president, Dynes experienced a presidency that he described in a letter sent to the Board of Regents as “filled both with successes achieved and difficult challenges addressed and overcome.”

Provost and Executive Vice President Wyatt R. Hume will act as the Interim Chief Operating Officer. His appointment to the post is effective immediately and will continue until a new president is named.
