San Bernardino Valley College Gets New President. Dr. Debra Daniels, a Florida educator, has been named the 13th president of San Bernardino Valley College.

Dr. Daniels, the district’s Vice President of Academics and Student Affairs at Polk Community College in Winter Haven, Florida, was appointed as the CEO of San Bernardino Valley College by the district’s Board of Trustees on August 9, 2007.

Daniels, a community college graduate, holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in dental assisting from Delta College in Michigan, a Bachelor of Science degree in allied health teacher education from Ferris State University in Michigan, a Master of Education degree, and a Doctorate of Education degree specializing in community college leadership from the University of Illinois—Urbana Champaign.

In a district press release, Daniels made the following statement:

I am excited and honored to serve as the next president of San Bernardino Valley College. I would like to thank the Chancellor, Board, and college community for their confidence and support. I look forward to getting started and working together to fulfill the education needs of our students and our community.

Daniels was chosen from more than 25 applicants after a three-month search. Daniels replaces retiring President Denise Whittaker, who served as President for four years.
