Release Career-Technical Education Plan Review

The California Community Colleges (CCC) and the California Department of Education’s (CDE’s) Career-Technical Education Plan is now available for review and comment.

California is required by the federal government to submit a state plan in order to gain eligibility for federal funds. The Plan was developed in accordance with the federal Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006. States are required to submit newly formulated plans in order to be eligible for federal funds, of which California receives approximately $140 million annually. This amount is divided between the colleges and the CDE.

The plan, developed under the Joint Advisory Committee for Career Technical Education (JACCTE), took six months to put in place.

In order to receive input and public testimony, the CCC and the CDE will hold four public hearings:

The CCC and CDE will accept comments from the public until September 30, 2007. For additional information, please e-mail: cteplan@wested.org. The plan can be viewed and downloaded at:  www.wested.org/cteplan.
