IRS Mileage Reimbursement Rate Increases to $0.365 on January 1, 2002. Effective January 1, 2002, the IRS-approved reimbursement rate for business travel will increase to 36.54 per mile. This is an increase of two cents from the 2001 rate of 34.54 per mile.
