AB 1417 Update:  Accountability Reporting
for Community Colleges (ARCC) 

When we last reported on AB 1417 (Chapter 581/2004) the Community College System Office Research and Planning Unit was preparing for its field presentations, which were completed this week. As a result of those presentations, colleges should be aware of additional information and deadlines regarding implementation of AB 1417.   

Colleges should be aware of the following timeline: 

• October through December 2006:  Colleges submitted and reviewed final MIS data for performance indicators
• January 22, 2007: Second draft report of colleges’ data and peer groupings
• February 23, 2007: Colleges prepare self-assessment response to draft report, which includes approval by the college CEO (review or approval by the district’s board of trustees at this point is optional)
• College is responsible for posting its response by 5:00 p.m. on this day to the ARCC self-assessment website:  http://misweb.cccco.ed/arcc/web_logon.aspx
• Only Accountability Reporting for the Community Colleges (ARCC) college contacts will receive passwords to access this website; contact Debbie Gutierrez (Toner) at (916) 327-5903 or dgutierrez@cccc.edu for a password
• March 19, 2007:  Final report due to the Legislature
• System Office will post the report on the ARCC web site and notify districts when it is available, at:

• The report is expected to be over 700 pages long, so colleges and districts will be able to download and print only the parts needed

• March 18, 2008:  Board of trustees for each district review discusses the report, as evidenced by minutes submitted to the System Office

Some additional key points that came out of the presentations are as follows: 

• Under assessing performance, colleges are not ranked
• In writing your college’s self-assessment, address the following questions:

·        What do I need to cover?

·        Who am I addressing?

 ·        What are the requirements?
