By the Way . . .
Latino Success In Higher Education. Since the California Community Colleges have the largest Latino student population, Excelencia in Education, in association with the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute and the California Policy Research Center, recently released Latino Student Success in Higher Education, which states that, in California, Latino students represent 46% of the school-aged children; however, they represent only 29% of students entering community colleges, 8% of students entering the California State University system, and 3% of students entering the University of California system. Unless the college attainment of Latino students improves, the income of California residents is projected to decline over the next two decades. California Policy Options to Accelerate Latino Student Success in Higher Education provides new research analysis and proposes a range of policy options to expand college access for members of California’s Latino population, according to the California Institute for Federal Policy Research.
