U.S. Department of Education Will Work to
Raise Community College Profile. At a meeting of the American
Association of Community Colleges and the Association of Community College
Trustees, Patricia Stanley, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Community Colleges
for the U.S. Department of Education, informed college leaders that her top
priority is to raise the national profile of community colleges over the next
two years.
She plans to accomplish this goal by communicating with the entire education community about the work of the nation’s community colleges. Secretary Stanley comes from a background of community colleges, having served as the former President of Frederick Community College in Maryland. She also plans to raise the profile of two-year colleges within the Department, in addition to developing an online portfolio of best practices for those institutions.
