New Magazine on California Community Colleges Published
The inaugural issue of Affinity, a new magazine targeted to California’s Community College alumni, was published late last month. A corresponding website for the magazine, which will contain more up-to-date articles, can be accessed at http://www.affinityonline.org. The new magazine and website are the products of a partnership between the Foundation of California Community Colleges and the Network of California Community College Foundations.
The inaugural issue of the magazine had an initial distribution list of 16,000 alumni throughout the state, but the website should provide access to a much larger group of alumni and other interested parties. The first issue contained an article on the Osher gift, which was described in SSC’s Community College Update of May 9, 2008, and included articles on a couple of the system’s millions of successful alumni. What is particularly exciting about the new publication is that it can be customized, allowing districts to purchase a college-specific version to target their alumni more directly.
We hope that alumni will embrace the new magazine and website and that their interest will encourage them to support their community colleges in future endeavors.
