Special Session Update--November 20, 2008
Both the Assembly and Senate have cancelled their Sunday, November 23, 2008, Floor Sessions and rescheduled them to Tuesday, November 25. The Assembly has scheduled its Tuesday session for noon, but the Senate has not proposed a time for its “tentative plans.”
Senate President pro Tem Don Perata (D-Oakland) had previously announced that November 23 would be the last possible date action could be taken without interfering with the upcoming legislative session, but has now pushed back that date until Tuesday, November 25.
Coming out of a Big 6 meeting today, the legislative leaders (except Speaker Karen Bass [D-Los Angeles], who joined the meeting via conference call) told the Sacramento Bee that there have not been any breakthroughs, but talks haven’t broken down either. Another meeting is planned for tomorrow, November 21.
