By The Way. . .
State Chancellor's Office Looking For New Staff. Chancellor Tom Nussbaum
is in the process of trying to fill two key staff positions. The vacant positions
are the Chief Deputy and the Vice Chancellor for Fiscal Policy. Vacancies
were created in these positions when former Deputy Chancellor Ernie Leach
accepted the position of Associate Executive Director of the Community College
League of Innovation starting December 1, 1996. The Vice Chancellor for Fiscal
Policy position has been vacant since Dr. James Albanese returned to Mt.
San Antonio Community College District. Chancellor's Office staffer Gary
Cook has been serving as interim-Vice Chancellor for Fiscal Policy. Flyers
have gone out on the Vice Chancellor position and advertisements for the
Deputy Chancellor position should be out by the end of December. According
to the Chancellor's Office, both of these positions are "exempt" appointments,
meaning that anyone who meets the minimum qualifications may apply, regardless
of state civil service status. Chancellor Nussbaum is anxious to fill these
important positions as he reorganizes his office.
