May Revision Workshop

About the Workshop

The May Revision is a statutorily required action by the Administration every year, but this will be the first year for Governor Gavin Newsom to recast his January State Budget proposals and present new propos-als in view of a revised revenue outlook and stakeholder feedback. The May Revision Workshop will incorporate the results of revised revenue estimates, finalize the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) provisions for 2019-20, provide the latest on Special Education funding, incorporate any revisions of the accountability system, and revise the out-year estimates for LCFF funding for your multiyear projections.

As expected, with a new Governor and many new state legislators, 2019-20 is shaping up to be a very interesting year for school administration and finance. This workshop provides the information needed to close the books for 2018-19 and to finalize local educational agency budgets for 2019-20, both of which are assured to be full of changes.

As a new feature this year, we will open our “Ask SSC” function for attendees to submit questions throughout the workshop to be answered live at the event. You asked for this feature, and we are happy to enhance your experience with this interactivity!

There is no question that this workshop will be invaluable to you. Again we will hold the workshop in multiple locations over multiple days to allow attendance at the most convenient time and place for you.

These workshops are cosponsored by FCMAT. See you there!

The Workshop Will Provide:

  • A revised School Services of California, Inc. Dartboard
  • Updated per-pupil revenue amounts
  • Planning factors for the out years of the multiyear projection
  • Updates on accountability rubrics, the Local Control and Accountability Plan, and other significant policy issues
  • The appropriate use of ending balances and other resources
  • Operational guidance for new revenues, new regulations, and increasing expenditure obligations
