Associate Superintendent, Human Resources
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Associate Superintendent, Human Resources (HR) provides executive leadership for the San Francisco Unified School District’s (District) human capital strategy, overseeing recruitment, staffing, labor relations, classification and compensation, and HR systems in alignment with our Board-approved, five-year, student outcomes-focused Vision, Values, Goals, and Guardrails. This position is responsible for ensuring that nearly 9,000 employees are effectively recruited, hired, supported, developed, and retained in alignment with District priorities, Board policies, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable law.
Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Associate Superintendent, HR serves as a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet and advises on District-wide workforce strategy, organizational effectiveness, and change management in service of the best outcomes for students. ABOUT THE DISTRICT
The District is one of California's largest and most diverse school districts. As a single-district county, the District operates independently from other countywide districts and provides K-12 public education exclusively within San Francisco.
The District’s employees are considered employees of the city and county of San Francisco. All of its non-certificated roles and programming are subject to civil service rules, unless otherwise indicated in the California Education Code or in collective bargaining agreements. The District partners with 16 different bargaining units in shaping labor conditions and the overall student experience at the District.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from an accredited college or university in HR, education, public administration or policy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
Five years of leadership experience in a public school district, with at least four years of verifiable experience in HR, labor relations, or supervising schools
SALARY
The District offers a competitive salary of $208,107 to $295,991 annually, commensurate with experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits plan is provided including dental and vision plans, a defined benefit pension plan, disability, life insurance, flexible spending account options, and vacation time.
