By the Way . . . Second CARES Act Reporting Window Now Open

The California Department of Education (CDE) opened the second cycle of Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act reporting today—October 1, 2020—requiring local educational agencies (LEAs) to disclose all expenditures of CARES Act funds for the following periods:

Fund Source and Resource Code Reporting Period
Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF) (3220) July 1 – September 30, 2020
Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Funds (3210) March 13 – September 30, 2020
General Funds (7420) March 1 – September 30, 2020
Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Funds (3215) March 13 – September 30, 2020

 

Additionally, for CRF reporting, LEAs are authorized to adjust expenditures reported in the first cycle, including expenditure adjustments related to summer learning and supplemental after-school programs (category 10).
