Human resources (HR) standards require effective organizational structures and staffing resources, internal controls, and a culture of consistency, fairness, and responsiveness. The essential functions of an HR department are managed through operational procedures and a system of compliance with employment laws that informs employees of their responsibilities and the local educational agency’s (LEA’s) expectations. The HR department’s core function is to recruit, develop, and retain employee resources to support the instructional and operational objectives of the LEA. Recruitment plans prioritizing a workforce that mirrors the unique student population should align with strategic goals and involve recruitment practices that include functional procedures, comprehensive training for all hiring managers, nondiscriminatory selection processes, and efficient hiring practices.

The evolving LEA workforce environment requires regular review of HR department practices to ensure the function is meeting the needs of instructional programs and operations. This may require a redesign of staffing resources and revised approaches to how the department supports staff. Foundational HR practices are a core prerequisite for ensuring that the HR function has the capacity to respond to current HR trends.  

This webinar is designed for HR management and all HR technical staff, covers core HR operational areas with a focus on current recruitment practices that support LEA hiring capabilities. In addition to the webinar, presenters will host an interactive roundtable to cover Q&A discussions and best practices.
