Chief Human Resources Officer
ABOUT THE POSITION
Under the direction of the County Superintendent of Schools and Deputy Superintendent, the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) is Los Angeles County Office of Education’s (LACOE) chief human resources (HR) executive and strategic advisor. The CHRO leads a high-performing HR function focused on three core priorities: talent acquisition; employee and labor relations; and classification, compensation, and benefits. The CHRO provides executive leadership for certificated and assigned classified personnel functions, serves as LACOE’s chief negotiator, and partners with the Personnel Commission while respecting its independent statutory authority. This position falls under the Personnel Commission, and as such, certain aspects of the recruitment process may be outside of School Services of California Inc.’s (SSC) purview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates may qualify through either of the following pathways:
Pathway A—Certificated Educational Leadership: Master’s degree in HR, organizational development, educational administration, public administration, business administration, or related field; valid California Administrative Services Credential or a comparable administrative credential issued by another state; and five years of progressively responsible leadership experience, including at least three years in senior management or executive leadership, with demonstrated experience in collective bargaining, employee relations, and certificated and classified personnel systems.
Pathway B—Professional HR Leadership: Master’s degree in HR, employee relations, HR policy, industrial/labor relations, public administration, law, or related field desired; five years of progressively responsible professional HR experience in a large, complex educational, governmental, nonprofit, or public-sector organization, including at least three years in senior HR management or executive leadership; and demonstrated experience in labor relations, collective bargaining, compensation, employee relations, and comprehensive HR operations. A California Administrative Services Credential is not required under this pathway.
SALARY
The current salary range for this position is $241,200 to $298,812. Exact placement within the range is based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. In addition to the posted salary, LACOE provides a stipend for individuals who hold an earned doctoral degree. LACOE also provides its employees with a generous benefits package comprising employee-elected and statutory benefits.
