For over 40 years, School Services of California Inc. (SSC) has partnered with school districts to gather certificated salary and benefits data through the J-90 collection. With the passage of Assembly Bill (AB) 938 (Muratsuchi, Statutes of 2024), responsibility for this data collection is transitioning to the California Department of Education (CDE).
Starting with the 2025-26 cycle, the CDE will take over this work, introducing a new process called the C-90 School Employee Salary and Benefits Data Collection. The C-90 expands the J-90 framework by continuing to collect data on certificated salaries, benefits, and full-time equivalent counts, while adding required information for classified bargaining unit classifications. To support this transition and expanded data collection, the CDE is developing a new web-based system for data submission for a July 1, 2026, release.
SSC is partnering with the C-90 experts from the School Fiscal Services Division at the CDE to discuss the new system, timelines, and best practices for reporting. This session will be focused on the first C-90 data submission and provides technical advice on the reporting requirements.
Attendees will be encouraged to submit questions throughout the session and presenters will answer questions live.
