Hot Topics Workshop - NEW!

Introducing a new annual workshop to focus on the hottest issues that your district will grapple with going into the new year.

The U.S. Supreme Court case Janus v. American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) will have significant implications for public unions and management alike throughout the nation and California. On the heels of legislation in 2017 to mandate union representative access to new employee orientations, several other legislative proposals made their way to the Governor’s desk this year. SSC experts will provide you with the newest laws related to union membership and help your district adjust to the ruling of the Supreme Court and implement corresponding legislation.

Other topics may include:

  • Career Technical Education funding
  • New block grant programs
  • School safety measures
  • Early childhood education
  • Other key policy measures signed by Governor Brown

The SSC Governmental Relations Team will help you operationalize and understand state policy changes and anticipate the major education debates of 2019 and beyond. Hear our experts discuss the potential changes ahead for education under a new Administration and with a changing political landscape.
