The Form CEA (Current Expense of Education) measures the annual spending requirement for school districts based on a law that has been unchanged for decades. While the intention of the form is good, the practicality and applicability of the form is waning as nearly 60% of elementary school districts statewide are not able to meet the minimum spending percentages required by law.
The way students are educated has morphed since the implementation of this form, and the educational approaches have shifted drastically as funding streams have changed. The education system absorbed the impact of a once-in-a-generation pandemic, and there is an increased focus on social and mental health supports. Many of the wraparound services provided today actually serve as a detriment to compliance with this law.
This roundtable will allow practitioners to gain a better understanding of law, how the form works, and learn tips and tricks for maintaining compliance with the law. Participants will be able to engage in a dialogue with the presenters and address questions in real time.
